Albert Edward
Carmichael
Feb 2, 1946 — Jul 14, 2026
Albert "Bucky" Carmichael, age 80, of Middleboro, MA, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2026.
Born in Middleboro on February 2, 1946, to the late Laurence and Hazel (Fowler) Carmichael, he was raised in Carver, MA. After graduating from Middleboro High School in 1964, Bucky answered the call to serve his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam era. As an anti-submarine warfare technician operating in a P-3 Orion unit, he proudly patrolled the Atlantic Ocean. His service took him to places like Maryland, Spain, Cuba and Iceland, where he would later share with his family having to cover the windows just to sleep at night because the Northern Lights were so incredibly bright.
After returning home, Bucky continued his education, graduating from Bridgewater State in 1977, and went on to build a respected career as an assembly and operations manager for the Foxboro Company and other local manufacturing companies.
For 59 incredible years, Bucky walked hand-in-hand with the love of his life, Carolyn "Pamela" Carmichael. Together, they built a close-knit family centered on unconditional love, laughter, and plenty of friendly competition. Bucky was happiest when the house was full, a game was underway, or he was near the water waiting for a fish to bite. He was also famous for always having a camera in his hand to capture every family gathering or sporting event— usually to the lighthearted annoyance of those being photographed.
If you truly wanted to see Bucky smile, you only had to watch him with his five grandchildren. “Grampa” never missed a thing. He was always there on the sidelines, at school events, or sitting at the kitchen table for an afternoon of board games. He was their biggest cheerleader, their quiet protector, and their favorite opponent, even letting them win once in a (great) while.
Some of the family’s favorite moments were simply sitting around the living room while Bucky sat in his favorite chair. He loved to regale the family with stories such as tormenting his older siblings growing up, various adventures around New England, and the days when he and Pamela would hop on his motorcycle and ride up to New Hampshire.
Bucky’s memory will be treasured forever by his wife, Pamela; his children, Donald (and Kimberly) Carmichael of Middleboro, and Wendy (and Steve) Dion of Norton. He is the cherished Grampa of Eryn Dion and her spouse Katie Landeck, Katrina Carmichael and her fiancé Matthew Meyer, Kylie Dion, Shelby Carmichael, and Casey Dion. Bucky is also survived by his brother-in-law, Gordon "Wes" Miller, and many loving nieces and nephews. He was welcomed into peace by his parents, Laurence and Hazel, as well as his brother Walter and sister Patricia.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 31, at 11:00 a.m. at the Thomastown Cemetery on Purchase Street in Middleborough. A celebration of Albert’s life will immediately follow, with details regarding the location to be provided for guests at the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Albert Carmichael to Shriners Children's.
