Obituary

Anna Laura (Almeida) Correia, 97, of Carver, Massachusetts, passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at Jordan Hospital in Plymouth, Massachusetts. Born in New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late Laura C. (Pina) Araujo and John M. Almeida. She was the beloved sister of the late Antone Almeida, John Almeida, Florence Mello, Edward Almeida, Louise Enos, and Beverly Vasconcellos.

Anna attended school to become a hairdresser and worked briefly in the field before dedicating her life to her family and loved ones. As a devoted wife, mother, godmother, aunt, foster mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she took immense pride in her roles. Her faith was central to her life; when she could no longer attend services at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, she watched them on TV.

With her husband, Anna moved to Carver, where they built the home she lived in until her passing. An exceptional gardener, she maintained a beautiful yard full of flowers. She also pursued studies in sewing, cake decorating, and drawing, demonstrating remarkable skill due to her keen attention to detail. Throughout her life, Anna worked in various jobs, including screening cranberries, making jewelry, floral arranging, and fostering children in need. However, her family always remained her top priority.

Anna cherished family gatherings and was famous for her "mean potato salad." She loved having her mother, stepfather, siblings, and their families over for cookouts and clambakes, where laughter and togetherness filled her home. Visitors were always welcome, and she made sure no visit was complete until they were fed, with a humorous reminder to never wash hands in the kitchen sink.

Anna is survived by her husband of 75 years, Peter R. Correia II of Carver, MA; her sons, Peter R. Correia III and his wife Felicia of Tulsa, OK, and John Anthony Correia and his wife Jessa of Brockton, MA; and her daughter, Annette Marie Correia and her husband Reuben Meade of Milton, MA. She is also survived by her grandson, Peter R. Correia IV, his wife Emily, and their two daughters, Eda and Luise of Kalamazoo, MI; her sister-in-law Jessie Doumanian (Almeida) and Michael Doumanian; along with many nieces and nephews. The family gratefully acknowledges the exceptional companionship and care provided by Mary Joseph.

Her funeral service will be held on Monday, November 2, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 130 Main St, Carver, Massachusetts. Interment will follow at Plymouth County Cemetery on South Meadow Road. Guests are invited to join the family for a repast at Carver Sportsman Club, 127 Main St, Carver, MA, after the interment.
