Obituary

Daniel Arthur Perkins, of Carver, MA passed away unexpectedly, after battling many health issues over the years, on July 13, 2023. He was 74 years old. Dan was born to the late Arthur O. and late Gertrude (Nash) Perkins of Brockton, MA, on October 29, 1948

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Beverly J. Perkins; his daughter Lori Ford and her husband Paul of Halifax, MA, his daughter Roberta DiRado and her husband Mark of Carver, MA, sister Sherry Dunbar of Bridgewater, MA, sister-in-law Sandra Gilbert and her husband William of Florida, and four amazing grandchildren that were the light of his life: Emily Ford, Daniel (DJ) Ford, Nathan DiRado, and Molly DiRado. The list of loved ones goes on, with those still with us and those that are not, including aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends that became family.

Dan was born and raised in Brockton, MA, and graduated from Brockton High School in 1967. He served his country proud as a security police officer in the US Air Force, as well as in the Vietnam War. He found his forever home in Carver, MA, and he worked for Acme Glass until 2001. He spent the next 23 years of retirement enjoying time with his family.

Some of Dan's favorite memories included golfing with friends--especially his hole-in-one at Squirrel Run in 2005, Cousin David's 4th of July cookouts, family vacations wherever those took him, and watching all four grandchildren play sports.

Dan possessed the best sense of humor and had an ability to stay positive during the hardest times. That will be missed the most from those that had the pleasure to meet him.

Dan was gifted with a second chance of life when he received a double lung transplant in 2017, and his family will be forever grateful to his donor for the extra time with him. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lung Transplant Center at Brigham and Women's Hospital @ 45 Francis Street, Boston, MA 02115.

Visiting hours will be held at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 116 Main St, Carver on Tuesday, July 18th from 3:00 to 7:00pm. A Funeral Service will be held at the Shepherd Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 19th at 11:00am.
