Enid Esther (Wainio) Harju of Carver, passed away on October 2, 2023 at the age of 97. Loving wife of the late Oiva Harju, daughter of the late Jaakko (Jacob) Wainio and Hilja Sofia Kallio.

Born November 23, 1925 in South Carver at home she lived her entire life in Carver, MA. Enid attended schools in Carver and Middleboro, she later married Oiva in 1950. Enid worked as a telephone operator before retiring.

Enid enjoyed time with her family, knitting, crocheting, reading, puzzles, crossword puzzles and games. She was also known for her wonderful apple pies and baked beans. And Enid never ever missed a birthday.

Enid is pre-deceased by her siblings, Emmi Wainio (Kaarlo Kivi), Waino E. Wainio (Pearl Jackson), Linnia E. Wainio (William Anderson), Aina S. Wainio (Onnie Ahlberg), Uno O. Wainio (Elsie Makela), Saimi O. Wainio (Amos McGinnis), Urho J. Wainio (Irja Kantakancas), Carl Wainio, Alfred E. Wainio, Helen J. Wainio (John Rogers).

She is survived by her children: Kenneth Harju (Bettygene) of Middleboro, Edwin Harju (Elaine) of Carver, Ronald Harju (Karen) of Middleboro, Kristine Harju (Bradley Smith) of Georgia, grandchildren: Derek Harju (Elizabeth), the late Dana Harju, Keith Harju (Ian), Jolene Harju Madewell (Joshua), David DiSciullo (Tina), Michael DiSciullo (Colette), great-grandchildren: Grace, Quinn, Blake, Austin, Fiona and Jack Harju, Alex, Andrew, Keira, Krystal, Dylan and Aubrey. Sister In Law Mildred (Herries) Wainio, many Nieces and Nephews.

Calling hours will be held at Shepherd Funeral Home 116 Main St. (Rte 58) Carver, on Thursday October 5, 2023 from 3-7pm. A graveside service will be held on Friday October 6, 2023 at 11am at Union Cemetery, Carver MA.
