Ernest Thorlief
Nali
September 21, 1937 – April 25, 2023
Ernest Thorlief Nali, age 85, formerly of Kingston, was called to heaven on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, with loved ones by his side.
Born and raised on a farm in Starbuck, MN, Ernie went on to serve in the United States Navy. His service brought him out East and eventually landed him in drydock in Charlestown, MA, where he met the love of his life, Eleanor Comeau, at the Bal-a-Roue Roller Skating rink in Medford, MA. He was pre-deceased by his beloved wife of 54 years, Eleanor Nali. He was a special dad to Laureen Wagner (Kenneth) of Plymouth, Leonard Nali (Janet) of Marshfield, Linda Sciotto (Anthony) of Rocky Point, NY, Leigh Nali (Kristin) of Charlestown, Louis Nali (Noelle) of Waxhaw, NC, and the late Lawrence Nali. He was a proud 'Papa' to 14 grandchildren,12 great grandchildren and a sweet uncle to over 40 nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by his sister Eleanor Emmons (Greg) and preceded in death by his sisters Margaret Grenson, Norma Disrud, and his brother Thomas Nali.
Ernie was never seen without a smile on his face. His "happy go lucky" attitude, infectious laugh, and funny sayings made everyone around him feel welcome. He, alongside his wife, spent almost 20 years running the Hanover Bowladrome where they became lifetime friends with so many. He spent the rest of his working years continuing to work with his wife every day in Boston. His selflessness and servant's heart were evident by the way he served St. Joseph's church and the Knights of Columbus, where he served as a past Grand Knight.
What he enjoyed most was being around his family and friends, telling stories over a cocktail, enjoying life and his Boston sports teams.
