Obituary

Jacqueline Hutchinson, 81, a resident of Duxbury since 1975, died peacefully on Thursday, February 15, 2024. She was the loving wife of the late Robert Hutchinson.


Jacqueline was born on March 26, 1942 in North Attleboro. She was the daughter of the late Valmore L. and Blanche Mary (Gavlick) LaFontaine. She was raised in South Attleboro with her four sisters and two brothers. Jacqueline attended Attleboro High School and then Bridgewater State College where she received her Bachelor's Degree in 1964. Later she received her Master's Degree in Education from Cambridge College.


Jacqueline had a long and successful career as a middle/high school science and math teacher. Starting her career as a junior high school teacher in Attleboro, she later taught mathematics at both Silver Lake and Plymouth South high schools. She had a strong passion for teaching and took great pride in helping her students learn.


Jacqueline was most happy when she was in the company of her loving family, including her late husband Robert, her children, sisters, brothers, many nieces and nephews, and her beloved grandchildren. She loved adventure with her family and traveled extensively throughout the United States, Caribbean and Europe, including a trip around the world with Robert in 1967.


Jacqueline is survived by her sons, Lance Hutchinson of Duxbury, Scott Hutchinson and his wife Lee Ann of Duxbury, her sisters Carol Murphy of Norwell, Elaine LeComte of Falmouth, MA, and Kathleen Lyons of Sarasota, FL and her three grandchildren, Tyler, Natalie, and Gabrielle Hutchinson. Jacqueline was preceded in death by her two brothers, Valmore and Joseph LaFontaine, and her sister, Barbara Habershaw.


Funeral services were held on Tuesday, February 20 at Holy Family. Burial was at the Mayflower Cemetery.
