James Everett Smith, a dedicated artist who found his greatest expression through oil painting, passed away leaving a vibrant legacy on canvas. Born November 23, 1947, in Plymouth, MA, Jim was a devoted husband to his late wife, Janine, whose memory remained cherished in his heart, and a loving stepfather and grandfather who brought warmth and guidance to his family. He loved expressing himself through his art and his music.

A proud veteran, Jim served his country with distinction in the United States Navy as an Airman on the big island of Hawaii and told many stories of his adventures while enlisted there. He received his honorable discharge in 1969. He and Janine resided in California, eventually returning to his hometown of Plymouth where they purchased a home to start a B & B in the Morton Park area.

In his later years, Jim was cared for by many friends, including his late cousin Mark LeBarnes of Carver, Kathleen Nye of Carver, and Scott Coogan of Plymouth. We would also like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Bay Care Nursing staff in Duxbury, MA for their compassionate care during Jim’s final days. He leaves behind a large extended family of nieces and nephews, and many in-laws.

Visiting hours will be held for Jim on Saturday, September 12th from 2pm to 3:30pm with a service beginning at 3:30pm at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 116 Main St. Carver, MA.
