Joan Marie Mahoney, 76, of Carver, MA passed away peacefully on April 22, 2023 at the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth, with her husband David by her side, after a long battle with kidney disease.

Joan was born in Boston, MA and grew up in Cambridge and Dorchester and was raised by her uncle Robert Marshall and her "nana" Marshall.

She later married the love of her life, David Mahoney on April 27, 1969 and moved to Carver in the summer of 1983.

Joan is the oldest daughter of her family and is survived by her brother, Joseph Kelly and the late Jean Killcommons, her younger sister. She is also survived by her loving husband, her son Chris and his wife Rebecca, along with her two loving granddaughters Emma and Marlee Mahoney.

Joan enjoyed making and selling crafts with David, camping and wintering in Florida and most of all spending time with her grandchildren. Joanne was also an avid cold water swimmer. One of her favorite pastimes was a cold swim in the ocean, then relaxing in the sun while reading a book. She will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.

Memorial Visiting hours will be held on Thursday May 4th at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 116 Main St, Carver from 4:00 to 8:00PM. A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 5th at 9:30AM at the MA National Cemetery, in Bourne.
