Karen McIsaac, 77 (Middleboro, MA)
Karen McIsaac, 77, of Middleboro, Massachusetts passed away peacefully after a long and courageous battle with Lewy Body and Alzheimer's disease. Surrounded by the love of her family, she leaves behind a legacy of faith, devotion, generosity, and unwavering commitment to family.
Born to Dorothy and Theodore Smith, Karen was one of five children and grew up in Hyde Park and Brockton, Massachusetts. She graduated from Brockton High School and remained deeply connected to her family throughout her life. She was predeceased by her parents, Ted and Dot, and is survived by her sister, Sheila, and brothers Robert, James, and Theodore, Jr.
Karen shared 56 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Charles "Chuck" McIsaac. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and friendship. They raised their family in Middleboro and later lived in Indiana, and Plymouth, Massachusetts, while enjoying many winters in Naples, Florida.
Karen was the proud and loving mother of seven children: Kerry Gilliam and her husband Rob of Summerville, SC; Scott McIsaac and his wife Tatum of Kingston, MA; Jill Coutu of Milton, GA; Joanne Fay and her husband Chris of Raynham, MA; Katie Thibodeaux and her husband Ryan of Plymouth, MA; Peter McIsaac and his wife Emily of Colorado Springs, CO; and John McIsaac and his wife Tracey of Queen Creek, AZ. Karen was also blessed with 17 cherished grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy to her life: Tommy, Justin, Bryce, Erin, Jason, Beth, Matthew, Katie, Grace, Ben, Addison, Anthony, Cayden, Brady, Olivia, Marie, and Dominic.
Karen's greatest calling was caring for her family. Deeply faithful and selfless by nature, she dedicated her life to raising her children and creating a home where everyone felt welcome. She never hesitated to prepare a meal for 20 people and would scarcely blink if 30 arrived at the table. Her home was a gathering place filled with laughter, good conversation, and love.
Nothing brought Karen more happiness than spending time with her grandchildren. Whether cheering from the sidelines at sporting events, relaxing together at the beach, attending school performances, or celebrating a birthday, she wanted to be present for every milestone and every memory.
Karen and Chuck formed lifelong friendships during their years in Middleboro, where they were longtime parishioners at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Together with dear friends, they shared family ski trips, annual Fourth of July celebrations, and summer camping trips. These friendships became an extension of family and remained a source of joy throughout her life.
Karen also loved to dance. Whether at a family wedding reception, an Oak Point dinner dance, Zumba class at Oak Point, or the East Bay Grille on a summer evening, she could always be found on the dance floor from the first song to the last. Her joyful spirit and warm smile brought happiness to everyone around her.
Karen will be deeply missed by all who loved her and by the many people whose lives were made better simply by knowing her. Her family finds comfort in the countless memories she created and in the example of faith, kindness, and unconditional love she leaves behind.
Calling hours will be held at Shepherd Funeral Home located at 216 Main Street, Kingston, Massachusetts on Monday, July 6 from 4pm-7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's Church located at 313 Court Street, Plymouth on July 7 at 10:00am. A reception will follow at the Oak Point Community Center located at 200 Oak Point Drive, Middleboro and all are welcome to celebrate the joy she has brought to this world.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Karen’s honor to Crossroads, 119 Myrtle Street, Duxbury MA 02332 or Cranberry Hospice, 36 Cordage Park Circle, Suite 326, Plymouth MA 02360.
