Obituary

Karl M. Christianson January 16, 1940 - October 19, 2023

Karl M. Christianson, beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully on October 19.

Born in Boston on January 16, 1940, he was the son of the late Elmer Christianson and Helen O'Brien Christianson and was raised in Wellesley Hills, MA.  He was a talented hockey player and was a member of the hockey team at Boston University.

Karl spent his early career in the tech sales industry.  He later founded and was the president and CEO of Marshwinds, International, which specializes in IT consulting.

After moving to Cape Cod in 1973, he purchased Anchor Hardware in Barnstable Village, which he and his wife ran for several years.

Karl and his wife, Andrea raised their family in their beloved home in Cummaquid for 45 years, where Karl meticulously cared for the property with great pride.  Karl was instrumental in the development of the Mass Audubon Long Pasture Wildlife Sanctuary, ensuring that generations to come would experience and enjoy the natural beauty of Cummaquid that he loved.

Karl was known for his big smile, booming voice, sense of style, humor and willingness to lend a helping hand to family, friends and neighbors.  He loved nothing more than spending his days watching his grandchildren play in the pool and his nights enjoying a gin and tonic while sitting under the tree.  He was his grandchildren's biggest supporter and fan of their sports and activities.  He spent many happy days fishing with his late brother in law, Allen.  Karl was also an excellent cook and either made or supervised the cooking of many delicious dinners.

Karl leaves behind his wife of 59 years, Andrea; his daughters, Keri Manheimer (Dean), Karin Settel (Peter), and Pamela Campbell (Brian), all of Duxbury; his grandchildren, Elizabeth and Holly Manheimer; Lily, Harry, Shelby and Annie Settel; and Jane, Addie and John Campbell.  He also leaves his sister, Karin Fekete.  He was pre-deceased by his brother, Eric Christianson.
