Kevin
Quackenbush
Feb 14, 1948 — Oct 15, 2026
Plymouth
Kevin James Quackenbush, 78, passed away peacefully on the evening of October 15, 2026, surrounded by his loving family at the Newfield House Convalescent Home in Plymouth, MA.
Born in Albany, NY, on February 14, 1948, Kevin graduated from the Vincentian Institute in1965. On August 17, 1968, at the age of 20, he married the love of his life, Virginia “Ginger” Quackenbush. Together, they shared over 52 happy years of marriage until her passing in 2020.
Kevin served honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War era, stationed in Huntsville, AL, and Germany. Upon returning home to Albany, he and Ginger welcomed their two sons, Keith in 1970 and Patrick in 1973.
Following his military service, Kevin began a long career in retail with Sears, Roebuck and Co., steadily advancing into management roles. In 1977, Sears transferred him to Bangor, ME, where he served as operations and merchandise manager. Kevin and Ginger raised their sons in East Holden, ME, until career opportunities brought them to Portland, ME, and Hanover, MA, in 1986. The family ultimately settled in Marshfield, MA, in 1988, where they resided for over three decades. Kevin later worked with Bradlees before transitioning to a rewarding second career in retail banking with Citizens Bank, retiring in 2009.
Providing for his family was Kevin’s ultimate priority. He was incredibly proud of his seven grandchildren, who meant the absolute world to him. An enthusiastic golfer, he cherished a good round and great company at Green Harbor Golf Club in Marshfield. He also had a deep love for oldies music and a great joke.
Kevin was a practical, down-to-earth man who possessed amazingly uncommon wisdom, which he often shared through thoughtful advice to his sons. Above all, he was a man who “walked the talk.”
He viewed his marriage vows as a sacred promise, standing as Ginger’s unwavering caregiver and partner during her 11-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease. With selfless devotion and extraordinary care, he ensured she remained comforted at home until the final months of her life.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kevin’s memory to the Newfield House Convalescent Home in Plymouth, MA (newfieldhouse.com) or to the Alzheimer’s Association (Alzheimer's Association ).
