Obituary

Michael Dean Moura 9/6/1959 - 4/29/2026

The sweet, resilient, and fiercely independent soul that was Michael Dean Moura departed this earth on April 29, 2026.  He was born on September 6, 1959. As a young man he loved wine, women, and song, fast cars, (particularly his beloved 1965 GTO) and the great outdoors. He loved to dance and sing and was great at both. He'd often break out into spontaneous singing and do so with all his heart. Michael was so full of life. He truly loved living and did so with gusto. He was feisty, loving, thoughtful, grateful, and true. Asweet soul, Michael easily relished in the company of family and friends and the beauty of simple moments.

Born in New Bedford and raised in Kingston, he attended Silver Lake Regional High School.

After high school he held a number of jobs all of which he enjoyed and was proud. Early on, Michael worked at Danforth's Bakery in Plymouth. Next, as a highly skilled welder Michael helped build and repair ships at the Quincy Shipyard and then later used his welding expertise to make Chubby Coal stoves. Lastly, his favorite job was throwing chains on the oil rigs in Wyoming.

In May of 1983 at the age of 23, Michael was involved in a life altering motorcycle accident that crushed his body but not his spirit. For if you were to ask him how he was and how it was going, he'd respond with a resounding "F & D", "fine and dandy, Ya better believe it!" After being in a coma for a year and a long rehab process, Michael learned to walk on prosthetics, he drove his own car, and lived independently in his Island Creek Village apartment in Duxbury until his demise.  Michael was deeply devout in his Christianity andwas a communicant at Holy Family Church in Duxbury. At Home, hefaithfully made it a point every morning and night to pray for all his family and friends present and past.

Michael is pre-deceased by his parents Elizabeth (Dean) DiCroce and Dr. Robert Moura.  He will be sorely missed and is survived by his devoted siblings: Susan Joyce of Plympton and her husband Jeff, Robert Moura of Kingston and his wife Barbara,  Steven Moura of Methuen, Kathleen McLevedge of Scituate, Gina Margitich of Plymouth and her husband  Mark, his stepfather Frank DiCroce of Vermont, many nieces, nephews and extended family.

As a family we are grateful to his care givers and companions who helped him maintain his independence later in life. To them and all who loved Michael, we are certain he would send a huge "Thank you so much. "God Bless you!"
