Norma
George
November 20, 1937 – May 25, 2026
Norma George (née Horne), 88, of Duxbury, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2026, at Southwood at Norwell Nursing Center, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on Prince Edward Island, Canada, Norma grew up with a deep sense of community that she carried with her throughout her life. As a young girl, she moved with her family to Hillside, located in Pictou County, Nova Scotia, where she made many fond memories. She later followed her calling to help others and attended the Aberdeen School of Nursing. Always driven by a sense of adventure, she spent time living and working under the sun in Bermuda before making her way to Boston to grow her career as a Registered Nurse. It was in Boston that Norma met Vasil "Bill" George, who preceded her in death. Together, they made their home in Duxbury, where they raised their boys and built a life filled with laughter and love. Norma was a natural caregiver who brought immense warmth and skill to her nursing vocation, and her family is endlessly grateful to the incredible team at Southwood at Norwell for making her final days so comfortable and full of peace. Above all, Norma's greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her three sons, who were her pride and joy: Alex George and his wife Holly of Beverly; Greg George and his wife Missy of Duxbury; Mike George and Karen Nelson of Duxbury. She is also survived by her beloved youngest sister and lifelong friend, Sharon Brown of New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, and is reunited in peace with her late parents, Edith and John Horne, and her dear sisters, Elizabeth Duncan, Beverly DesLaurier and Beulah Horne Walker.
Norma's legacy shines brightest in her six grandchildren who brought her endless happiness: Alex, Olivia and her fiancé Cheyanne Hafer, Thomas, Hannah, Jack, and Ben.
Norma's life was defined by kindness, a spirit of adventure, and fierce devotion to the people she loved. She will be missed beyond measure.
