Patricia May Fitzgibbons died peacefully in her sleep in the early morning hours of June 20, 2026. She was 96.

Born to Mitchell May, Jr and Dorothy Levins May on May 3, 1930, Pat grew up in New York City and Bronxville, New York. She graduated from The Bronxville School (Class of 1948) and Wellesley College (Class of 1952) having majored in Art History.

She returned to New York City where she had a brief career as an Interior Decorator- a passion that lasted her entire life. She decorated many of her own homes and those of friends and family throughout her years.

On February 11, 1956, Pat married Edward (Ned) Spence Fitzgibbons. Together they raised four children; Spence, Lisa, Caroline and Stephen as well as countless dogs. Pat was always happiest with a pup tucked by her feet.

Pat was an avid sportswoman throughout her life- playing golf, tennis and croquet. Similarly, she adored playing bridge and was a passionate gardener for the majority of her life. A devout Roman Catholic, Pat was an active member of the Church wherever she lived. Pat was also a wonderful cook and entertainer. People adored being at her table for the food and the conversation.

Pat is survived by her four children Spence Fitzgibbons, (Laura), Lisa Fitzgibbons (Christopher Mines), Caroline Fitzgibbons (Tad Smith), Stephen Fitzgibbons (Lisa), eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren, and eight grand-dogs.
