Priscilla Anne (Sherman) Wood, 88, of Kingston (formerly of Weymouth) passed away in Weymouth on August 26, 2026.

Priscilla was born in Weymouth to Royce and Margurite Sherman on December 26, 1937. She graduated from Weymouth High School in 1955 and went on to attend the Henry O. Peabody School for Girls, earning her hairdresser’s license in 1956. From that point on, Priscilla worked as a hairdresser in a variety of small local shops, eventually opening Priscilla’s Beauty Shop in her Weymouth home providing beautification to clients for their entire lives. When it became too difficult for her aging customers to travel to her, she took her profession on the road, doing their hair at their homes.

Priscilla was an independent and driven woman who raised four children as a single mom and, at times, working three jobs simultaneously to support her family. She waitressed at Bob’s Donut Shop in Columbian Square for several years, transitioned to food service in a cafeteria for Raytheon and Kemper for several more, taught ceramics classes, and eventually became an underwriter for Kemper Insurance Company from which she retired in 2000.

She enjoyed travel on cruise ships, by car, by bus, and by plane, visiting many parts of the World and the United States, always sharing her trips with friends or family. She became a member of the South Shore Joeys where she transformed herself into a clown known as Curly Q, marching in parades, attending social events for children and adults, and creating balloon animals and spreading joy to others. Priscilla also enjoyed painting ceramics and taught classes from her home for several years. She learned the fine art of cake decorating and baked and decorated all four of her children’s wedding cakes as well as several other family members. For several years she was the president of the United Methodist Women’s Group, leading fund raisers, educational events, and church fairs with the members. Always a leader, she was someone who volunteered in numerous capacities to help others in times of need.

Priscilla is survived by her children, Philip and Terry Wood of Granby, Colorado, Sandy and Tom Cronin of Middleborough, MA, Steven and Laurie Wood of Plymouth, MA, and Holly Seppala of Punta Gorda, FL.

She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jamie, Amanda, Joshua, and David Wood, Korey and Becky Nolan, Charles Nolan, Keira, Kelly, and Emily Cronin, Cam Van Fossen, Ryan Wood, Zachary and Zoey Seppala, and predeceased by Daniel and April Wood.

In addition, she is survived by her great grandchildren, Lilly and Miles Wood, and Marina and Mica Nolan.

Priscilla also leaves behind her long-time companion, Paul Loud, of Braintree, Massachusetts.

And finally, she is survived by her siblings, Nancy and Norman Neff of Sagamore Beach and her brother, David Sherman of South Yarmouth as well as several nieces, nephews, and life-long friends.

She is predeceased by her parents, Royce and Margurite Sherman, her brother, Royce Sherman and his wife, Elizabeth, her brother David’s wife, Ethel Sherman, and her sister and her husband, Carol and Hugh Fulcher.

In lieu of flowers, her wishes are for people to make donations to charitable organizations of their choice. The family wishes to extend gratitude toward the Middleboro Council on Aging, Old Colony Elder Services, the doctors, nurses, and the Palliative Care Team of South Shore Hospital who cared for our mother during her long stay at the hospital and after her passing.
