Regina Marie “Yaya” Hill, 72, of Carver, Massachusetts, passed away on Sunday September 6, 2026 following a diagnosis of ALS, that she carried with dignity and endured with grace. Regina passed away at her home surrounded by her family, friends, and loved ones.

Gina was born in Boston, MA to William and Virginia Guest on October 16, 1953. She attended Matigon High School in Cambridge and graduated in 1971. She went on to attend the University of Massachusetts, Boston and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in human services in 1976. Gina returned to Bridgewater State College and Graduated in 1998 with her Master’s of Education in Counseling. She then obtained her LMHC and her License as a School Adjustment Counselor. As a natural born helper she worked in nursing homes, schools, substance abuse treatment centers, and alternative educational placements. She worked at HighPoint Treatment Center from 1996 until she retired in 2024. Gina served as a School Adjustment Counselor at Pilgrim Academy from its inception in 1999 until her retirement in June of 2021. Gina loved to spend time with her daughters, grandchildren, family and friends. In her most beloved role as Yaya, she was Carver’s biggest fan. She attended any and all sporting events with a big smile, a Dunkin Donuts coffee and encouraging words for not only her grandchildren but for all she came across.

Gina is survived by her brother, William Guest and wife Sharon, of Plymouth, MA. Her daughter, Jacqueline Sturtevant and her husband Timothy, of Wareham, MA. Her daughter, Julie King and her husband Scott of Carver, MA. Her daughter, Justine and her partner Scott “Kenny” Roberts of Carver, MA. Her beloved grandchildren Scott Jr., Leah, Wesley, Cole, and Avery. Her dear friends Rick Hill and his wife Karen. And her abundance of cherished family and friends. She was predeceased by her father, William Guest, her mother, Virginia Guest, her sister Nancy Stambaugh, and her brother, Michael Guest.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Mass General’s Healy ALS clinic especially Dr. Chew, Mallory and Jen for being with us during this devastating illness. We wish to extend our gratitude to Rick, Phil and Matt and South Shore Veterans Assistance.

We wish to extend our gratitude to Shannon and CCALS for guiding us through this. Amy, thank you for being my mother’s biggest advocate. And our deepest gratitude to Tammy and Jessica and Old Colony Hospice for being a steady presence in our time of need. ALS may have stolen our Mother’s physical capabilities but it didn’t take her love, light and spirit.

We are forever grateful that we were blessed to have her as our mom and Yaya. And we are forever grateful to all you for surrounding Yaya with the same love, kindness and compassion that was her greatest legacy.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, September 11th from 4-8:00 PM at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 116 Main St (Rt. 58) Carver. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, September 12th at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 130 Main St, Carver. A graveside service will follow at Central Cemetery in Carver.
