Obituary

Wilda J. Green, 88, of Massena, New York, passed away on December 15, 2023 in Natick, Massachusetts, after declining health.

Wilda was born in September of 1935 in Durand, Michigan as the oldest of nine children to Wilber D. Rounds and Lois M. (Fox) Rounds. She graduated from Durand High School in 1955 and worked in Durand briefly before marrying M. Edward "Ed" Green in 1959. Ed's job with General Motors moved them to Massena NY soon thereafter.

Wilda lived in Massena for the next fifty-eight years. She raised her family there and considered it her home. She took full advantage of the short Massena summers playing golf at the Massena Country Club where she was a long-time member and where she never took the St. Lawrence River views for granted. When the winter cold arrived, she swapped her golf clubs for her bowling ball and enjoyed her Wednesday night bowling league at the Seaway Bowling Alley.  She was also a member of the Massena Congregational Church and a Meals on Wheels volunteer.

Wilda loved her adopted hometown of Massena and the surrounding "North Country" beauty. She loved gardening and took great pride in her summer flowers.  Mostly, she loved her children and grandchildren, who will miss her.

Wilda was predeceased by her husband Ed, both parents, her son-in-law Joe Caruso, and several siblings. She is survived by her children Kurt Green (Janis Eaton) of Plymouth MA, Laura Green (John Thielman) of Atlanta GA, Linda Caruso (the late Joseph Caruso) of Ft. Myers FL, and her three grandchildren, Brenden Green, Katherine Thielman and Sierra Thielman.

Wilda will be laid to rest when weather permits. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Massena Meals on Wheels (70 E. Hatfield St., Massena NY 13662), Salmon VNA & Hospice, 37 Birch St., Milford, MA 01757, or your local hospice organization. Condolences can be expressed at shepherdfuneralhome.com.
