Wilfred Sheehan passed away on August 2, 2026, at the age of 89. Wil lived a life filled with kindness and humor and a steady love for his family.

 After graduating from Boston English High School, Wil enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving as a weatherman in Japan, which he greatly enjoyed. After the Navy, Wil attended Boston University, receiving a B.S. in Political Science. 

Wil met his wife and the love of his life, Patricia, during the summer of 1960 and they married in 1962. They shared a love that showed in everything they did - raising a family, building a successful business, supporting their community, sailing and traveling together. He began his career as a Management Consultant and in 1970, just after his 4th child was born, Wil formed his own consulting firm, W.M. Sheehan & Company. His management consulting firm quickly grew to become widely respected amongst banks and health care organizations in New England and beyond. Before retiring he sold W.M. Sheehan & Company to Clark Consulting in 2000.

 In 1971, Pat and Wil moved their family to Duxbury, where they lived for the remainder of their lives. They created a home known for warmth, love, and fun. Their annual 4th of July party at their home on Washington Street, along the parade route, was notorious. 

Wil was committed to supporting his community. He could be counted on to find out-of-the-box solutions that brought people together. He was known for his sense of decency and fair play in all his affairs. For many years he was active in town government, including serving as chair of Duxbury’s Finance Committee. He was a trustee of Jordan Health Systems, and served as Chairman of its Board from 2004-2009, and earlier chair of Cranberry Hospice. Wil and Pat were also members of the Duxbury Yacht Club. 

With everything Wil did, he carried an unwavering sense of humor. He was full of mischief and was a creative prankster. He was known for his ‘shaggy dog stories’ that went on and on and on. Many have proved to be legendary with his family and close friends. He captivated children of all ages with silly games and terrific stories, all of which were made up as he went along. Hundreds of children have heard his ‘Fat Frank’ stories - each one custom made for the child he was entertaining, ensuring awe and laughter.

 Music was very important to Wil, and he enjoyed going to the BSO with friends and attending the Duxbury Music Festival concerts. Up until the end of his life, he was fiercely determined to ensure that the Duxbury Music Festival continued. 

Wil’s love of sailing began while living in Japan. Whether sailing a Catboat in Duxbury Bay or cruising on Spartina along New England waters. He instilled his love of the water in all of his kids and grandkids.

 Wil is survived by his children and their spouses, Julie and Daniel Stevenson, Michael and Sarah Sheehan, Carole Corriveau, and Beth and Joe Ross. He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren, Hilary Stevenson, Lindsay Byrd, Emma Ross, and Wick Ross. Fortunately, during the last few weeks of his life Wil had the opportunity to impart his wisdom to his new great grandchild, Eloise Byrd. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Patricia Sheehan, parents Edith and Edward Sheehan, siblings Edith Sheehan, Adele Law, and Edward Sheehan, and his son-in-law Ron Corriveau.

 Wil’s family is very grateful for the exceptional care he received from his team of caregivers during the last few years of his life. A celebration of his great life will be held in the fall.
